Artificial Aesthetics

“Artificial Aesthetics: Challenging Art with AI” is a conceptual art project at the junction of technology, art, and artificial intelligence “AI.” The series sets out to explore the possibilities and the implications of the integration of AI into the artistic process. Bringing into question the ideas of authorship, creativity, and the role of technology in art. Incorporating AI into the creation process as a collaborative partner, the project raises questions about the future of art in a world increasingly dominated by rapidly expanding technologies and its exponential growth of abilities.

Drawing inspiration from the works of Sol Lewitt and his series Wall Drawings. He challenged that art was not the work itself but the idea or, specifically, the instructions for the creation in his series. Similar to the Wall Drawing series, Artificial Aesthetics focuses on the concept and the detailed instructions, which, when provided to AI, culminate in the collaboration and creation of the final sculpture. Using custom scripting, Computer Design (CAD) software, 3D printing, and human assembly, this series invites discussion and reflection on the essence of creativity and artistic ideas.

Artificial Aesthetics engages with unpredictability and randomness found in AI's decision-making process. The component of relinquished control introduces a level of surprise in the creation process, blurring the lines between the intent of the artist and the execution and interpretation of the AI. The project is not just another sculptural series but a philosophical discussion of the nature of art and creativity in the 21st century. Pondering the evolving relationship between humans and machines and the future of artistic expression. Through this series, the project hopes to spark conversion on the potential for new forms of collaboration, ushering in an era where technology and art collide, exploring new realms of artistic experiences.
